We are still putting finishing touches on the overall programme but we are ready and happy to announce our academic programme track for the convention!

Are you an author? Would you like to do a reading at the convention? Send us an email at programme@archipelacon.org and let us know 1) what you’d like to read and 2) in what language (English, Finnish or Swedish).
Join the art show!
As part of Archipelacon a fantastic international art show of pirate sf will be on display at the Mariehamn public library on June 22nd to 28th (yes, the art show will be up and running a few days before the con). Anyone interested is hereby invited to join the art show. To join the show send pictures of no more than three (3) pieces of art by email to artshow@archipelacon.org by April 30th May 10.
The Archipelacon Academic Track includes nearly 30 presentations by scholars representing a variety of countries and fields of study. The topics range from postapocalyptic fictions to alien architecture and the influence of sf on bioethics – from Donald Duck comics to Battlestar Galactica, as well as works by Gaiman, Tolkien, Atwood and G.R.R. Martin. The programme takes the form of 20-minute presentations, with 10 minutes allowed for discussion after each paper.

To celebrate the opening of our call for programme participants we wanted to give you a first little teaser of a couple of programme items. If you have ideas of programme items you’d like to be part of, please go and sign up!
We are currently planning the programme for Archipelacon. There will be four days of programming about various topics, including literature, movies, tv, comics, and fandom. The programme item styles will vary from academic presentations to light-hearted quizzes, and everything in between.
To bring our members the best possible program, we’re looking for programme participants. We’re looking forward to a diverse group of people taking part in the discussion. To submit ideas and volunteer to be on the programme,

Archipelacon will be an international event, with members from a dozen countries already signed up ten months before the convention. To take advantage of this opportunity, we will host a meeting for science fiction and fantasy writers from the Nordic countries, to give them the opportunity to make contacts and discuss the field with their colleagues from the neighbouring countries.
More details will follow as we get closer to June next year.

Hello! I was wondering if someone could help me identify a certain book. In his presentation (When the map is the world, on Saturnday) Stefan Ekman talked about a map which had legends for various types of forests but only one legend for roads - which don't even appear on the map. I found the map very interesting and therefore also the book, but now, a week later, I can't seem to find the name of that book in my notes. So, is anyone more knowledgeable than I am?

Archipelacon's Guests of Honour visit to the Åland Maritime Museum also included a dinner inside the museum ship Pommern. During the dinner photographer Henry Söderlund took portraits of all the GoHs and some of the other participants.
