An introduction to Swedish science fiction and fandom.
Join a group of scientists (who happen to also be sf-fans) in a discussion on grandiose and wild scientific concepts in sf books that might actually work in the real world, and mad scientific plans in the real world that sound like they escaped from the pages of a sf-novel.
“The splitting of the atom” – does the phrase make you feel anything? Nuclear technology defined the 20th century. It gave us Spiderman, Dr. Strangelove, Project Orion, The China Syndrome, Fallout, and a job for Homer Simpson. And Our Friend the Atom, of course. We have feared the Bomb, but also hoped to harness the power of the atom. Through popular culture, we have participated in the struggle between the atomic nucleus that wants to help us and its evil twin aiming to wipe out civilization in an atomic winter. Is the battle over?

Hello! I was wondering if someone could help me identify a certain book. In his presentation (When the map is the world, on Saturnday) Stefan Ekman talked about a map which had legends for various types of forests but only one legend for roads - which don't even appear on the map. I found the map very interesting and therefore also the book, but now, a week later, I can't seem to find the name of that book in my notes. So, is anyone more knowledgeable than I am?
